Brad DeLong takes a long and very satisfying victory lap on behalf of Nate Silver by simply listing all of Silver’s critics and their commentary.
Most of their comments are pre-election, and most of them explain that Silver is a.) wrong and Romney will win, and b.) a partisan hack, which completely explains a.). I’ve gone back to some of the same people who wrote vitriolic attacks on Silver, and post-election their mea culpas have tended to be ‘this was a professional, technical disagreement.’ Uh-uh. You wanted to bully a guy who looked (but wasn’t!) vulnerable.
The DeLong is worth reading all the way down, if for no other reason than to study how people can find ways to avoid the facts when they really, really want to. Hubris, thy name is legion.
