the unknown country

Some of you … God hates you. Some of you, God is sick of you. God is frustrated with you. God is wearied by you. God has suffered long enough with you. He doesn’t think you’re cute. He doesn’t think it’s funny. He doesn’t think your excuse is “meritous” [meritorious]. He doesn’t care if you compare yourself to someone worse than you, He hates them too. God hates, right now, personally, objectively hates some of you.

I stumbled into this quote from a minister named Mark Driscoll, linked off The Dish, where it was put up as a ‘Malkin Award nominee,’ a running list of absurd and hateful speech.

It may well be that. But if you believe, it’s also something else – it’s your fear, laid out plain. That’s its power – the idea that God is very real, very personal and not what you want him to be.

And then down the rabbit hole.

Turns out Mark Driscoll is well known, and not always well liked. It’s a dispute from another country, the country where faith is not convenient.
